With advancements in digital technology, VueMotion is paving the way for a new approach to movement assessment, coaching, and treatment through remote capabilities. Dr. Jo Brown, a movement specialist, shares how VueMotion allows practitioners to assess, coach, and treat clients and athletes anywhere in the world, providing unique benefits to both practitioners and their clients.
Dr. Brown explains that VueMotion has the potential to transform the assessment process for practitioners across various fields, from physiotherapy to strength and conditioning. “VueMotion allows us to assess remotely. We can get the athlete to send video from their location, wherever they are in the world,” she says. This means that whether someone is an NFL player, a runner, or a soccer player, they can be assessed within their specific sporting environment. For practitioners, this creates opportunities to work with athletes and clients on a global scale.
VueMotion’s technology enables practitioners to conduct detailed movement assessments remotely, using video to capture exercises like squats, hops, or other functional movement tests. “A lot of the things we typically do in a clinic setting can now be recorded via video,” Dr. Brown adds. Practitioners receive data on how clients move, analyze the quality of their movement, and provide real-time feedback through the app. They can even annotate on-screen, offering clients and athletes visual guidance that enhances understanding and improves technique.
VueMotion has greatly expanded Dr. Brown’s reach, enabling her to work with a more diverse and widespread client base. “It’s given me the capacity to be anywhere in the world and consult with any person, at any level,” she says. For her, the ability to work with both professional and recreational athletes worldwide has been transformative, allowing her to provide assessments and coaching far beyond the limits of a physical clinic.
The benefits of remote assessment extend to athletes as well. As Dr. Brown points out, VueMotion offers athletes access to high-quality practitioners without the need to travel or book appointments far in advance. “For the athlete, they can access high-quality practitioners from different parts of the world and get that expertise without needing to book an appointment where they have to travel across town,” Dr. Brown explains. This flexibility allows athletes to save time by staying in their home, gym, or familiar sporting environment.
One of the most powerful advantages of remote assessment, according to Dr. Brown, is the ability to observe clients in their usual training settings. “When people are moving in the environment where they actually train—like using the squat rack they’re familiar with in their gym… they move differently compared to being in a different setting,” she notes. This familiarity can lead to more accurate assessments, as athletes naturally perform better in spaces where they feel comfortable and confident.
VueMotion has brought a new level of accessibility, convenience, and precision to the world of movement assessment. For practitioners like Dr. Brown, being able to work with anyone, anywhere, is a “pretty powerful place to be.” As VueMotion continues to grow, it’s clear that remote movement assessment will play a vital role in making high-quality, personalized coaching available to clients and athletes worldwide
